Synthetic Marijuana users may experience far more intense effects compared to smoking cannabis like intense anxiety, agitation, short-term memory loss, extreme sedation, life-threatening hallucinations and seizures. 

 

Since these drugs are so new, many healthcare practitioners don’t know their effect on prescribed medications or how to distinguish the substances from their regulated counterparts.

 

Because designer drugs are often unregulated, their potency can’t be controlled or verified. The Synthetic Drug Abuse Prevention Act of 2012 outlaws about 30 chemical structures and allows law enforcement officials to act on new formulations outside of those listed in the bill. The problem is that legislation has not been able to effective keep up with the manufacturer's changing formulations.
